When to Visit an Emergency Vet
There are several situations in which you should take your pet to a vet for emergency care. Poison or toxin ingestion, car accidents, and serious injuries all call for emergency treatment. Other symptoms that require immediate attention include:
- Profuse bleeding
- Excessive vomiting or diarrhea
- Crying out in pain
- Blood in urine or stool
- Bleeding from nose or mouth
- Extreme lethargy
- Refusing to eat or drink for more than 24 hours
- Sudden major behavior changes
You know your pet better than anyone. If you have any reason to suspect that there may be something wrong, it is always best to err on the side of caution and seek emergency treatment.
